“And (remember) as your Lord said to the Angels, “Lo! I am about to place a vicegerent on earth.” [QURAN 2:30] “Vicegerent” on one hand means “khalifah” or “successor” but on the other, is also understood to be “one who is delegated power on behalf of a higher presence”, otherwise known as a steward. Each of us are deputized by Allah to serve as vicegerents on Earth, to safeguard both the environment and our religion. We are captains of our faith and must endeavor to preserve the sanctity of our religion and the tenets of our faith in treacherous waters navigating an era of anti-Islamic rhetoric, violence, poverty, racial and gender inequality, injustices and social greed. |

Location: Nature Hike to a Rock Quarry |
Ustadh Amjad Tarsin Nasheed by Sidi Uthman Ames |
Adults |
9:00 AM - 10:30 AM |
The idea of “khulq” is one that is inclined to conservation rather than excess and wastefulness. The word, sometimes interchangeable with “adab”, combines the moral and behavioral aspects of a person who seek moderation, refined social mannerisms and good social character. This session will examine in detail Surah Al-Hujurat, the 49 th chapter of the Holy Quran, which provides key lessons in etiquette and decorum with our Maker, fellow believers, family, friends and the world. |

“And when My slaves ask you (O’ Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor).” [QURAN 2:186] It is easy to become overwhelmed with the world around us and circumstances beyond our control. Our ability to directly speak with Allah is our lifeline for managing daily affairs, marking moments of joy and gratitude and expressing despair. What are some ways to incorporate dua’a into you and your family’s routine and what are the benefits of doing so? |
